Once in a while,
I hear a song that reminds me of you.
It starts with a sweet, cotton candy melody--
Melting on my tongue before I can describe the taste--
Bright and sweet and full of lovely air
(Just like your hair, your smile, your eyes now that I recall)
I harmonize to life your sounds to the sky
Drum line to your chorus, tenor to your bass
Sometimes I wonder how that would taste--bittersweet?
Maybe someday we’ll perform this tune for people too
Though Lyrics can’t capture speechless like guitar strings do
Can’t say I love you with the gravitas of drums
Leave me ringing in your ears.
Tune your heart to my bassline
and you’ll find the pulse in this music,
a carnival concert
Once in a while,
I hear a song that reminds me of you.
